OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE® PROPRIETOR RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF
SOUTH FLORIDA'S
50 MOST POWERFUL BLACK PROFESSIONALS
Sam Sanders receives award from Success South Florida Magazine.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March 30, 2009) – Sam Sanders, managing partner of the Pembroke Pines Outback Steakhouse, has been named one of South Florida’s 50 Most Powerful Black Professionals of 2008. He and his 49 counterparts will be featured in the spring issue of the Success South Florida Magazine. He was honored with this prestigious award at a special recognition black tie gala in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, March 27, 2009.
Sanders joined Outback as an intern in the marketing department while attending the University of South Florida where he was the captain of the basketball team. After graduating, Sanders worked his way through the company, holding several hourly positions including busser, server, bartender, and assistant kitchen manager. He was then ultimately selected to enroll in Outback’s Manager In Training Program. In November of 2006, Sam joined the Pembroke Pines restaurant as the managing partner.
Under his leadership, the restaurant has given back to the community by hosting fundraising events for organizations such as Pines Elementary, South Florida Wheel Chair Tennis, Wild Turkey Federation, Best Buddies, Pembroke Pines Optimist and Miramar Boys and Girls Club. Sanders is currently an active member of the Pembroke Pines/Miramar Chamber of Commerce.
“Sam showed leadership potential from the beginning,” said Chris Sullivan, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse. “We discussed entrepreneurial opportunities early in his career, and I am excited to see him receive this honor.”
Success South Florida is a bi-monthly business and news publication serving the Greater South Florida Black Professional Community. The spring issue celebrates the CEOs, public officials, legal eagles, educators, mentors, and the like who have a significant impact in South Florida.
