OUTBACK STEAKHOUSEŽ JOINS THE RIDE ATAXIA
CYCLING TEAM AND RAISES OVER $87,000
12 Outbackers Ride 200 Miles to Raise Funds for Friedreich's Ataxia Research
TAMPA, Fla. (March 25, 2009) –Twelve Outbackers joined the Ride Ataxia 3 Cycling Team in Portland, Oregon, to raise $87,000 to benefit Friedreich’s Ataxia (FA) research. The 200 mile trip took four days, ending in Seattle, Washington and had a total of 70 cyclists, who battled the rain and cold to cross the finish line. The Outback team consisted of managing partners, joint venture partners as well as the chief operating officer of OSI Restaurant Partners, LLC.
This year marked the third annual ride and raised over $220,000 in total. To date, the Ride Ataxia Cycling Team has traveled over 3,300 miles and raised over $570,000. For more information regarding Ride Ataxia, please visit rideataxia.org.
Outback Steakhouse was a major sponsor of the event and hosted a kick off luncheon on Sunday, March 15. The restaurant also provided dinner each evening of the four day riding, feeding a total of 100 guests each night.
