Step into the Outback with our large dining room and inviting island bar surrounded by authentic art and imagery representing the rich heritage of the Australian Outback.
In the late 1980s, four friends – Chris Sullivan, Robert Basham, Tim Gannon and Trudy Cooper – had the dream of opening a casual-dining restaurant that offered quality food and exceptional service at a reasonable price. They conceived an Australian theme with a “No rules. Just right.®” mindset to create a fun, friendly dining experience that would differentiate themselves from other dining concepts. In March 1988, they opened the first Outback Steakhouse in Tampa, Florida.
